NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE (SG)

Singapore Architectural Festival “Archifest” is bringing together architects, planners, and public sharing future directions of architecture and urban design, which is playing an increasingly important role in the competition amongst global cities.

The topic for this year’s conferences, workshops, talks, architectural tours and exhibitions was “Craft”: “If the broadest definition of craft is about precision that demands laborious attention and skilled handwork, where would we locate it within the realm of architectural production or construction in an age where expediency and efficiency are privileged?”

We were invited with Mindful Spatial Experiencing (MSE) to hold a session at National Gallery Singapore. We took participants on a journey establishing active bodily engagement with the tactile architectural space of two Singapore’s most historic buildings (Supreme Court and City Hall) seamlessly merged into National Gallery by Studio Milou.

Just like craft, MSE is growing our embodied knowledge and spatial sense, both utterly important for the shaping of architecturally progressive environments: places that are not only made by humans, but for humans.
